Fu Yu Shan Insists on In-house-made Parts For Reliability

Fu Yu Shan Machine Works Co., Ltd., established 30 years ago, specializes in the development and production of various kinds of plastic extrusion and injection-molding machines. Differing from rivals, the company insists on using only in-house-made key components for its machines to ensure high quality and reliability.

In addition to CNC (computerized numerically controlled) injection-molding machines, the company focuses on baby-mother-type waste-plastic reclaiming and reproducing machines (75mm-160mm); dyeing, extruding and pelletizing machines (75mm-160mm); plate making machines that process ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), PS (polystyrene), PP (polypropylene), PE (polyethylene), PC (polycarbonate), PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and acrylic; three-in-one laminating machines; PP baling-strap making machines; plastic-string making machines; PVC- tube making machines; crushers and breakers, and cutting machines.

Headquartered in Tainan City, southern Taiwan, the company set up a production facility 10 years ago in Dongguan, Guangdong Province, mainland China to produce various kinds of plastic with its own machines. Seeing the burgeoning economy in Vietnam, the company inaugurated a plant there three years ago to do the same.

Wang Chu-chien, president of Fu Yu Shan, says his company has made a name for itself in the domestic market because of its long-term dedication to develop key components for its products, which spells better reliability in plastic processing machines.

"We have an in-house R&D team to develop complex key components to make sure the critical elements of reliability are within our grasp," says Chiu Su-hui, spokesperson of Fu Yu Shan. "We make all the key components, including gear box, die, barrel and screw, to maximize reliability. Due to the adoption of such in-house-developed key components, our machines have usable lifetimes of more than 10 years. We also offer application-specific after-sale services domestically and overseas."

The company is proud of its know-how in developing plastic-waste recycling machines. "We can help to design purpose-built machines to handle specific jobs," Chiu notes. "For instance, we can design dedicated machines to handle plastic recycling, regardless if the waste is water-drenched or powdered."

Having chalked up sales of NT$150 million (US$4.57 million at US$1:NT$32.8) last year, up 10% from the previous year, Chiu estimates the company will likely see another year of double-digit sales growth in 2006.
